The Schwartz Has Left The Building

May 17, 2006
What can I say? Mother's day with Eric Schwartz in my living room. About 20 intrepid souls made it to this impromptu gig to hear one of the most intelligent, provocative and engaging performers in the genre. Now anyone who knows me , knows that I sing and speak my own truth. Eric's truth is, well, let's just say, slightly different from mine...but man I love the way he expresses it...I want to thank him for gracing my home with his presence, his honesty, his aura and his artistry. I am so proud
to know this man as a poet, a songwriter, a musician and a friend. What an amazing blessing....

THE RED ROAD
-
May 13, 2006
I met an old American Indian man in Santa Fe. He told me about the Red Road. It begins in the East, the place of our youth and follows the path of the sun to the South, the place of our adult life. It then makes its way to the West, the place of our old age. Then we "drop our robe" and we follow the road to the North, where are spirit lives forever. He also told me about the Blue Road. It follows that path of the moon and goes in the opposite direction. It id the path of magic, mystery and shadow. Wherever we are in our lives, we are ALWAYS at the intersection of the Red Road and the Blue Road. That intersection is ALWAYS the center of the Universe...I wish you all peace as you stand in your intersection...don't worry, you won't get run over.

WHAT A WEEKEND!

April 26, 2006
I was walking through the woods in North Oxford Massachusetts this weekend when I encountered a Peacock and three Peahens. One of the hens was an albino. I have had many things happen to me in this crazy life but I was overwhelmed by the sheer, unmitigated spirituality that came as a result of spending 10 or 15 minutes appreciating these beautiful creatures on a "rainymisty" morning in the woods of New England. I have no idea where they cam from. I am certain they are not indigenous to Massachusetts. I am just so grateful to have crossed their path during this life. It makes me wonder about what might yet come.....
The journey continues...

Walk In The Woods

April 18, 2006
I am off to the woods of New England for a spiritual retreat this weekend. Hoping to help some others and by doing so, help myself. There is so much work to do in each and every life. I am hoping to stumble upon a revelation or two and continue to discover my path. I have strummed beside many campfires and hope to strum beside many more before I sing my last song. There is incalculable peace around an open fire. I can remember the time when I did not have the courage to search for myself. I am grateful for the ability to do it now. I look forward to whatever I may yet find and the new songs that come form those discoveries. Good luck in your journeys...don't be afraid...it's only you that you are looking for.
Peace

In Gratitude
-
April 7, 2006
I was just going over some of the beautiful comments people are making and I just wanted you all to know how grateful I am. This passion of mine has taken me to many places and put me in the company of many people...it has also cost me some things too, like time away from my loved ones, giving away big parts of myself, lots of lonely miles and a relationship or two. Those of us who are blessed/afflicted with this muse must be true to it. This is not about the applause althoug that is so beautiful and so welcome, it is about the connection we make with other people who need us to say the things that they themselves would like to say if they were similarly blessed/afflicted. I look forward to making as many connections as I can before I sing my last song. Thanks for listening...it means the world to those of us who are constantly distracted by the muse.

March 29, 2006
Looking forward to getting into the studio during the Summer to record another CD. It has been so nice to hear from and re-connect with some old friends through the website. Thank you to all of you for visiting. I encourage you to leave a comment in the guestbook.
I will have copies of WALKING IN THE LIGHT available for purchase very soon when I get them from my good friends at OASIS CD manufacturers. Thank you for the continued interest in that recording which has truly held up over time. If you haven't heard it, well, it was produced by Rex Fowler, who sings some beautiful background vocals throughout, features two stunning duets with the incomparable Sloan Wainright, as well as the exquisite musicianship of John Ragusa, Seth Farber, Arn Evans, Kieth Kelly, Joe Bonadio and the amazing Michael Mugrage. I was truly blessed to bring those folks together on that project...and it shows in the music.
Thanks for stopping by...
Peace,

Oh What A Night!

March 12, 2006
Yesterday I took a slow drive up to New England to do a show with some old buddies....the incredible band SELFISH STEAM (see there link), founded by Tony Marosssie (one of the funniest and most genuine men in the world) in the Windsor, CT area about 10 years ago, this band has gone through many changes to become a really fine and ROCKIN' unit. These guys play songs that talk about every aspect of addiction and recovery. The music that they are making is so important to so many people. I first met Tony about 6 or 7 years ago after a gig in CT. He heard my song "I Was Not A Vicim I was A Volunteer" and related. A few years later, I had the opportunity to be a part of SELFISH STEAM and to write a few songs with Tony (all of which turned out to be really fine), which he has recorded with the band.
So anyway..LAST NIGHT....I drive to Enfield CT to do a show at "ye olde powder mill barn" (circa 1845) to kick off the Half Moon Festival (see the link). There were some great openers including the trio Patchwork , then I did an hour during which I was accompanied on a few tunes by my close friend and mentor, Rex Fowler from Aztec Two-Step (see link), and by his sweetheart Liz who is part of Patchwork (what an amazing voice!). The old barn was packed with the usual suspects and it was great to reconnect with so many familiar faces. Quite a few folks took home copies of "Changing Shoes" and I hope they enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. It was such a great audience and it reminded me why I do the things I do, especially making music. To Phil and Dale and Matt and Peter and all of the musicians on the bill...IT WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH YOU ALL last night. to all of the people who came out to listen, it was my privilege to sing for you.....Peace ...out....Montgomery

Thank you for your patience my dear fans but as you can see I have officially entered the Cyber Age. In the weeks and months to come I will be filling this site with news and information about my musical endeavors. I am in a writing phase at this point and am going to be promoting CHANGING SHOES for a few months. I will be booking some gigs for the Spring and summer so check back every now and again. Please put yourself on the mailing list if this is your first encounter with me and/or my music. I am very excited about this website and the opportunity it will give me to communicate with those of you I already know and love and all of you new fans that I have yet to meet. I am looking forward to many more great musical moments.
Peace
